The Bower Beer Burger

my pal was back from AUS and I had an hour or so to spare at lunch to go and grab a bite with him. As we were both coincidentally at our childhood parents houses it made sense to maximise time and go for the nearest pub, the Bower Inn.

Well it turns out the Bower is no longer a pub at all it’s actually a fairly fancying restaurant now, with a proper open kitchens full of proper chefs etc. It’s apparently been this way for over a decade, I may have driven past 10k times in that time. I had to obviously try the burger.

Bingo, the Bower Beef Burger (original name). Looks pretty close to my standard review cheese burger but with the addition of streaky bacon and smoked cheese (and some cheeky relish)

For £15 what came out of the kitchen looked great. Clearly a well presented burger, very soft bun, big thick Burger too. I was intrigued though, will it be overcooked and dry and a waste of all that effort.

No way? I medium rare, delicious juicy, thick burger on my doorstep, served with lovely gooey cheese, crisp lettuce, fatty bacon with a zingy hint of relish. The juice just continued to pour out, at least 25% ratio here and the crisp skin on fries added to the occasion along with the creamy home-made slaw.

There’s no local bias here. This would be a fantastic burger in London, or anywhere, but the fact it is on Bridgwater (the new home of fast food) gives everyone a choice to have something of delicious.

At the time I thought this was an 8.4, but as I’ve mewed on it it’s gone to a 9.0.
