Sheppy’s Beef Burger at May Celebration Festival BBQ

Our Rating
7.2

You have to understand the History of Sheppy’s Cider Farm To fully understand the significance of a BBQ’d burger at Sheppy’s Cider Farm. The Sheppy family has been producing cider for over 200 years, and their farm has been in operation since 1917. Today, the farm is run by David Sheppy, the fourth generation of the family to do so. Over the years, Sheppy’s has become a beloved destination for cider lovers, with their products being sold in shops and pubs across the UK.

In addition to their cider, Sheppy’s also has a butchery on site, where they sell their own fresh beef, pork, and lamb. The butchery has become a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. Today we sampled a burger at their May Day Festival, from the BBQ.

At the heart of any great burger is the meat, and Sheppy’s takes great care in sourcing the best beef for their burgers. The beef used in their burgers comes from cattle that are raised on their own farm, ensuring that they have full control over the quality of the meat.

The burger was cooked to medium to rare, which allows for the natural juices and flavours of the beef to shine through. It may have even been a little too rare for me tbh, but as I know it was fresh, unfrozen and high quality I let it slide. I had it with just fried onions and mustard.

The beef is the star of the show, obviously, with its natural flavour being enhanced by the smoky char from the grill. I was literally the first to eat a burger on the day, so the buns were still fresh and the burger very fresh indeed, probably minced that very day.

The Sheppy’s burger is more than just a burger – it’s a celebration of the farm’s commitment to quality and tradition. Obviously this was eaten on their May festival and so may not necessarily represent a burger in their restaurant, but for an outside, BBQ burger at an event it was very nice, even at the 7.50 price tag.
